Beautiful Sunday: New Goodies

Heyhey lovelies!

So a few days ago I went into the city to buy a new makeup bag (since mine had become way too small to stock all my stuff in) and couldn’t resist going in Yves Rocher, a beauty store. How is it I can never just go into the city, buy what I need and go back home again? So much temptation everywhere.  Anyway, I’ve talked here before about how I’ve wanted to buy some good skincare products but didn’t really know what to buy. Well, on Wednesday I went to Ghent to go out and have a drink with my friends (which was lovely) and afterwards I stayed at my best friend’s place where I saw this skin cleanser from Yves Rocher’s Hydra Végétal range. After reading all the specifics about the product I decided to give it a try.

I decided to buy the cleanser and the toner, both part of the Hydra Végétal range. I tried them out the same night and immediately fell in love. The cleanser is super soft to my skin (something I had been worrying about) and doesn’t feel sticky or itchy at all. The toner has a lovely, soft smell and sooths my skin perfectly. I also bought an eye makeup remover from the Active Sensitive range for sensitive eyes, because the makeup remover I had before made my eyes sting and water like crazy. I don’t know how, but lately my eyes seem to have become a lot more sensitive. I have very bad sight so I wear contact lenses, but I’ve been wearing my glasses a lot more the last week because my eyes don’t seem to endure the lenses as long as they used to before. So that’s why I thought it’d probably be a good idea to buy an eye makeup remover for sensitive eyes. And for now I’m really happy with this one, it doesn’t make my eyes sting at all!

The makeup bag I bought is by Studio Pip, I think it is SO cute with all the little roses and bows and butterflies on it! It was not cheap though (around 30 euros) but I figured that a makeup bag is something worth investing some money in since I use it every day and carry it around a lot. It’s definitely big enough for all my stuff but not too big so I can easily find what I need.

So, I hope you enjoyed my Beauty Purchases of this week, let me know what you like to spend a bit more money on! :)

Enjoy your evening!

Lots of love,

Beautiful Sunday: My Haircare Routine

Heyhey lovelies!

First of all, sorry for the lack of posting this week but I was superbusy with school starting again. As some of you may know, I have started the second year of my Journalism studies in a new city and it’s all been pretty hectic. But I’m back now with loads of ideas!

I have been blessed (although it sometimes feels like a curse) with lots of thick, curly hair. I got it from my father’s side; basically everyone there has the same brown, curly hair. Last year I decided to put some highlights in it just to get rid of the boring, brown colour but unfortunately the treatment really damaged my long hair. I got rid of the most damaged parts and now it’s more or less okay again, but I still have to treat it with a lot of care. So for this week’s Beautiful Sunday I thought I’d share my Haircare Routine with you guys!

This is how I wake up in the morning. Lots of curls, but also lots and lots of knots in my hair. I can’t really do anything with it when it’s like that, so I wash my hair almost every day. I know, shame on me, but it’s just impossible to get them curls to look good without washing it. I use this Nivea 2 in 1 express shampoo; it’s basically a shampoo and conditioner in one bottle. I use it because it’s the only shampoo that doesn’t make my hair fluffy, for some reason.

After that, my hair looks like this: wet, not so many curls, but even more knots. I then towel dry my hair and comb it through using a wide teeth comb after spraying my Innova Hydrate Bi-Phase Conditioner by Indola in it. I got this stuff at my hairdresser’s and BOY, it is a lifesaver! Not only does it make it a thousand times easier to comb through my knotted, curly hair, but it also gives my hair a healthy shine. It’s not available in drug stores, so if you want to get it you’ll have to ask your hairdresser about it. But I highly recommend this product to any of you with hair that has a lot knots in it.

After the painful combing session my hair looks like this: detangled, with a bit more curls already but still pretty flat. I always let my hair dry naturally because a hair dryer gives me a poodle head, and after a few hours (yes, hours) of drying it finally looks like this!

*sudden outfit change*: the weather turned out to be way too cold for my beautiful red dress.

Curls, yay! I have to say, most of the time I am very happy being a curlyhead. I don’t straighten  my hair often to make sure I don’t damage it too much and because I think it looks great with the curls in it, so I guess I can say I am truly blessed!

I hope I helped some of you with hairtroubles, I hope you enjoyed your Sunday and have a nice evening!

Lots of love,
LFR

Fashion Friday: My Style Guru: Karla Deras

Heyhey lovelies!

One of the first blogs I followed and still my favourite blog of all time is Karla’s Closet, blog of stylist and designer Karla Deras. Ever since I discovered her blog I could spend hours of just scrolling through her perfect pictures. She looks so mysterious, rocks the short hairdo like no one ever could and has a body to die for that she likes to show off with crop tops and tight skirts. Conclusion: I’d go lesbian for her.

I would describe her style as ‘Simplistic Chique’ as she never wears many prints or colors and always combines her outfits with the perfect shoes and accessories. Her outfits look so simple but are yet so GENIOUS: she is the queen of effortlessness. I just can’t get over how perfect she looks in every picture. She’s one of those women who can wear a garbage bag and still look stunning, just because of the way she would style it and her ‘I don’t care what people think’ attitude. She posts on her blog a few times a month and also has instagram and other social media thingies, yet she doesn’t give a lot of insight in her life and therefor she remains a little mysterious. I loves.

Dat Booty Doe

One of my favourite pictures ever. I mean, just, urgh. Ultimate Perfection.

Sorry for the picture overload, I just can’t get enough of her. Massive girlcrush and style icon. ANYWAY
Enjoy your Friday Night girls!

Naive No More

Heyhey lovelies!

Another music post for you, about my all-time favorite band: The Kooks! They’ve released finally released their fourth album and gaaawd me loves it long time. It’s very different from the first three albums; it feels like The Kooks have really grown up and evolved in their music. There’s a lot of soul in the songs and a lot less indie rock vibe like they were known for, but I like it!

The Kooks have always been one of those bands that you either love endlessly or don’t find special at all. I have been a part of the first category for years now and never thought their songs sounded dull or boring. In fact, I remember playing their second album KONK over and over again on my Walkman (yes!) when I was on a holiday in France with my family. I could just get lost in their songs. But change and evolution is a good thing for a band, and I’m glad all the songs still have Luke’s edgy, raw voice in them. Happy happy me!

Enjoy your evening!
Lots of love,

Beautiful Sunday: My Autumn Makeup Musts

Heyhey lovelies!

Another reason I like autumn and its colder weather: red cheeks from the cold wind are the perfect excuse to put on some extra makeup but it’s not as cold and windy as in winter yet so the makeup does not drip down your face. I always feel like I cannot wear too much makeup in summer because it’s easy to overdo it, so as soon as the leaves start falling down I go a little makeup crazier. So I checked up on the autumn make up trends and these are my favorite things that I will definitely try!

1)      Metallic touches
I like how these eyeshadows look: a bit metallic, but not overdone so it doesn’t make you look like a robot. I’m really glad that eyeshadow doesn’t have to look as light and soft in autumn as in summer. I’m not at all an eyeshadow expert though, so it’s gonna take me some practice to get this right!

Donna Karan

Libertine

2)      Eyeliner
The eyeliner and defined eye makeup is back, happy dance! I just can’t live without my eyeliner; I have very small eyes so I try to always make them look a little bit bigger with a line. And apparently it’s a go go to use eyeliner this autumn so hell yes, to the drugstore it is!

Imaxtree

Tom Ford

3)      60’s inspired
Along with the retro fashion that’s totally back this autumn comes, ofcourse, the makeup! I can’t wait to start watching tutorials on how to create the perfect 60’s look and try things out.

Sadly, thé lip trend this autumn is all things nude. No more dark lipstick, I guess… Might just wear it though, I love those dark colors wayyy too much!

What are your Makeup Musts this autumn?
Lots of love,

Heyhey lovelies!

I am SO excited for the new school year to begin. Here in Belgium, when you don’t have to resit your exams, you have a 3 months summer holiday. And that always seems amazing at the beginning of the holidays, but when you have done every holiday activity you can possibly think of and you still have 2 weeks to go you get bored as hell. And that is my situation at this very moment. I even started a ‘Danathon’, aka watching every youtube video Danisnotonfire has ever made and I feel like I’m going crazier and crazier every day. Help!

So that’s why I decided to get prepaired for the new school year to come. I’m starting my second year of Journalism in a new city (Mechelen) and I could not be more excited about that. A new school, new people to meet and most of all: a new room to decorate, yay!
With every new schoolyear come new stationery supplies, so I hopped in my car, drove to HEMA and went stationery crazy. Here’s what I bought! (Btw; I know it's kinda weird to put stationery in the 'Fashion Friday' category but I just see all these cute little things as accessories.. so there ya have it)

A small personal agenda, a bigger school agenda (how CUTE is that anchor?!), three cute pens, labels, some retro looking sticky notes,  fine colored pens, some cute little stickers and printed washi tape, because it makes your wall look so much more prettier!
I also printed out this planning kit by my favourite French blogger Natacha Birds. She’s a webdesigner and an illustrator and on her blog you can find the cuuuutest wallpapers and iphone backgrounds to download FOR FREE. I can’t wait to decorate my room with this; a to do list, a calendar with ‘special dates’, a year calendar, a school calendar and a week calendar!

Can't wait to start decorating my desk! How excited are you about the new school year?

Lots of love,
LFR

Finley Quaye - Even after all

Heyhey lovelies!

Just a quick little post for y'all. I've recently 'discovered' this scottish singer-songwriter Finley Quaye and I love his music so much that I wanted to share it with you guys, just to brighten up your Tuesday night a bit! Finley Quaye has a lovely, warm, special voice and his music is a bit reggae-ish but also with some soul in it. And I definitely like my music with soul. Hehe.

'And your soul is beautiful, and your soul is good'

And now I'm off to watch the new SacconeJoly vlog and an entire episode of the X Factor UK. Yup, I party hard (I actually feel like a fail saying this, but as my boyfriend just said: it's still the summer holidays for me and I'm gonna enjoy the shit out of it. AMEN).

Enjoy your evening sweetiepies!

Lots of love,
LFR
